Cullen Meves serves as an Associate Principal at MKSK, bringing nearly two decades of experience in landscape architecture, urban design, and planning to her work shaping resilient, people-centered public spaces. Trained as both a landscape architect and urban planner, she focuses on creating environments that deliver lasting social, economic, and environmental value. Her background spans public-sector planning and private-sector design, enabling her to lead projects from long-range visioning and policy development through design and implementation, with a broad perspective on complex civic and infrastructure initiatives.
Having lived and practiced in Ohio, Massachusetts, Virginia, Vermont, and New Hampshire, Cullen’s approach is informed by a deep appreciation for the diversity of communities and perspectives that shape places across the country. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and Agriculture/Horticulture from The Ohio State University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech, grounding her integrated approach to planning and design in both ecological and urban systems thinking.
Throughout her career, Cullen has led a wide range of projects including parks, waterfronts, trail systems, institutional campuses, streetscapes, mixed-use districts, and major infrastructure investments. Her work includes leadership on transformative initiatives such as riverfront redevelopment efforts, regional trail networks, civic spaces, and transportation projects that strengthen connectivity, economic vitality, and quality of life. Notable projects include the Cuyahoga Riverfront Master Plan and Sequence 1A riverfront improvements, Aurora Park Vision Plan and Phase 1 Design, the Playhouse Square North Performing Arts Campus Plan, and the Cleveland Metroparks Gordon Park improvements.
Cullen’s practice is grounded in collaboration and the belief that enduring places are created through shared vision and long-term stewardship. As an Associate Principal, she advances this commitment across MKSK through project leadership, mentorship, and strategic collaboration. She is an advocate for resilient public-space design and community-centered planning, contributing to professional dialogue on creating places that remain functional, meaningful, and adaptable for generations. She believes the most successful communities are built through thoughtful design, shared investment, and a commitment to lasting civic value.
