Inspiring Ideas with Camp Architecture

MKSK

The Center for Architecture and Design’s Camp Architecture inspires youth to build creatively.

For the past eight years, MKSK has had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with Camp Architecture & Design, the youth program hosted by The Columbus Center for Architecture and Design. The program focuses on teaching students in grades 3-8 the fundamentals of sustainability, creativity, and design through a one-week program consisting of collaborative projects, presentations, and tours.

In 2024 and 2025, MKSK’s team hosted the “City Game”, a collaborative, hands-on activity that teaches participants about planning and design. This year, we began incorporating sustainability elements to challenge and educate the players in several sustainability practices. This expands the volunteer opportunity for MKSK from inspiring future planners to both inspiring and educating them about the importance of planning and design in creating sustainable communities.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with this amazing program and look forward to future years of educating the next generation of architects and designers at Camp Architecture!
