How Do You Create a Park for Everyone?

Summit Park, a 130-acre world-class park that provides interactive programming, unique learning opportunities, and year-round experiences.

Summit Park was once an abandoned airport and the largest undeveloped parcel in the City of Blue Ash, Ohio.  Fast forward to today, the once derelict Blue Ash Airport is now transformed into a world-class park for everyone, enhancing the quality of life and giving flight to the city’s next cultural and economic renaissance.

The Park is celebrated as one of the region’s signature outdoor performing arts venues. The diverse array of cultural programming and outstanding recreational amenities has drawn over 800,000 visitors each year since opening.

Summit Park is a regional destination for play, where young and old alike are fully embracing the signature “Discovery Playground” and the interactive “Nature Play” which provide varied experiences ranging from sand play, to log climbing, zip lining, and stick building. An accessible stream area invites exploration of the wonders and ecology of a spring-fed headwater stream.

Summit Park more than doubles the city’s inventory of park land and greatly expands the land area dedicated to open space and non-motorized trails. A restored stream corridor has created new habitat in over 12 different types of habitat zones. The park’s “Frontier” zone preserves nearly 30 acres of wooded wetland ecology. Interpretive signage educates visitors about significant park features and how they continue to improve the ecology of the park.
