A long-term vision that builds on the area’s rich history and its meaningful place in the community
MKSK is developing a Small Area Plan for Bonanza Park and Snow Creek to address the planning needs and policy goals of residents, business owners, and stakeholders. Considered by many as a true “locals’ neighborhood” in the otherwise resort and tourist destination of Park City, Bonanza Park is a lively community home to hundreds of Parkites, businesses, and institutions. This area plan establishes a joint land use and transportation vision building from Park City’s Vision 2020 plan that looks at the next 10 years of growth and development.
Launched in 2023 and expected to take 10 months to complete, this work runs in tandem with a joint 5-Acre Site Feasibility Plan for a critical city-owned site located at the heart of the district. Sharing a robust engagement process that includes community meetings, online engagement, meetings with city leadership, and on-the-ground activities, both plans offer a transformational opportunity for the area’s future. The area plan’s findings and recommendations are focused on a 200-acre boundary but will also consider the neighborhood’s connections and transitions to its nearby communities, as well as its positioning within Park City.
The final deliverable, expected in the summer of 2024, will identify community priorities and ensure that these align with Park City’s citywide goals, setting a vision for future land use patterns that preserve or improve the general character of Bonanza Park. In addition to a larger area plan report, the MKSK team is working with local transportation engineering firm Fehr & Peers to develop a stand-alone Connectivity and Mobility Element to address connectivity, mobility, transportation, and parking.
