Tony Murry
Associate Principal, ASLA, PLA
Tony believes thoughtful design always creates positive change for communities, institutions, and the natural and built environments.
With 23 years of experience delivering innovative landscape architecture, planning and urban design ideas for his clients, Tony draws on a broad background of ideation and built work from around the world, on three continents, 25 states across the US, and here locally within the Midwest and specifically Ohio. Any market; healthcare, higher education, civic, municipal, corporate commercial, districts or parks, Tony brings a warm and enthusiastic approach to seeking authentic and inventive ideas that bring out the unique (his)story of a place.
A central Ohio native, Tony gained an early appreciation for all things “landscape” as he explored the woods, creeks and fields of his family farm located within the Darby watershed. He learned how to balance preservation with necessity, and history with stories yet to be told. He and his family remain active in the day to day on the farm, maintaining a tangible connection to the land, the soil, the seasons, the medium in which Tony designs.
In conference rooms, around the studio, or on virtual calls, Tony enjoys engaging with clients and stakeholders, participating in spirited design dialogue and ideation, creative problem solving, and connecting with people in general. He is not concerned with authoring the right answer but rather uncovering it collaboratively with his team and clients through process, messy sketching, talking, and ideation. Once an idea is decided on, he works to ensure clear messaging, intent and graphics to ensure that his clients can confidently vet decisions leading to effective and informed outcomes.
