Over the past two decades, Andrew Overbeck has brought his curiosity and passion for planning to communities across the Midwest and Southeast. With a background in politics, journalism and research, Andrew combines rigorous analysis, compelling storytelling, and exceptional graphic communication to make complex planning concepts accessible and actionable.
His expertise in facilitation and public engagement helps communities move beyond competing interests to build consensus around solutions that reflect local values and support long-term success. A frequent speaker, mentor, and advocate for the planning profession, Andrew actively shares lessons learned through conferences, publications, teaching, and volunteer service, contributing to the advancement of planning practice.
Andrew has led award-winning planning and urban design initiatives across more than a dozen states, helping communities transform downtowns, reconnect neighborhoods, enhance public spaces, and create resilient places that attract investment and improve quality of life. He believes the most successful plans do more than guide development—they articulate a shared vision that inspires people, strengthens communities, and leaves a lasting legacy for generations to come.
