Streetscape enhancements promote safety, security and comfort, creating a beautifully vibrant corridor.

Led by the Oak Street Council (SSA #75), the Security Amenities Plan is a readily implementable strategy for the Oak Street commercial corridor to strengthen safety, security, and comfort along Oak Street. Through this process, furnishing products were assessed for aesthetics, function, and cost. Based on selected products and an analysis of vulnerable locations along the corridor, a site plan of selected furnishings was developed for approval and permitting by Chicago Department of Transportation/Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (CDOT/BACP).

MKSK was the sole consultant to select products, develop site plans, and provide strategic guidance to the Oak Street Council. The strategies for the plan were partially informed by MKSK’s submission to a streetscape design competition hosted by the Oak Street Council.
