Sandeep’s passion lies in curating holistic human experiences that are built upon history and culture; fostering happiness through social, emotional and environmental well-being; and utilizing storytelling in design to promote strong community connections.

Sandeep Walia is an Associate Principal with more than two decades of experience leading landscape architecture, master planning, and public realm projects across the United States and internationally. Her work is rooted in creating authentic, people-centered environments that respond to the unique cultural, ecological, and social context of a place. Through thoughtful planning and design, she helps clients and communities shape memorable destinations that foster connection, well-being, and long-term value.

Drawing upon a diverse portfolio that includes mixed-use developments, parks and open space systems, campus environments, community design, and large-scale master plans, Sandeep brings a strategic and collaborative approach to every project. She is particularly skilled at guiding complex projects through project visioning, site planning, stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary coordination, translating project aspirations into meaningful and implementable design solutions.

A respected leader within the profession, Sandeep serves as the Landscape Architect on the Bethesda Downtown Design Advisory Panel, where she helps guide the design quality and character of one of the region's most active urban centers. She is also a member of the Urban Land Institute's Housing Council, contributing her expertise in the public realm, placemaking, and open space design to support housing initiatives that create vibrant, connected, and livable communities.

Based in MKSK's Washington, D.C. studio, Sandeep is helping expand the firm's presence throughout the DMV while advancing projects that strengthen connections between people and place. Her leadership is defined by a commitment to design excellence, collaboration, and creating environments that positively impact communities for generations to come.
