Garnering community feedback to preserve, protect, and enhance a county-wide park system
MKSK led a multi-discipline team, with PROS Consulting and ETC Institute, to develop a comprehensive master plan for Great Parks of Hamilton County. The plan pursues Great Parks’ mission to “Preserve and protect natural resources and provide outdoor recreation and education to enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.”
The Comprehensive Master Plan develops a strategy for parks, facilities, programs, and services that address the community’s demographic, social, and health and wellness needs by defining a clear strategy and decision-making guide over the next 10 years.
The process was informed by an assessment of existing services and facilities offerings, coupled with a robust community input process that engaged more than 100 stakeholders and 2,100 members of the public through two series of community workshops, mobile displays, a dedicated community engagement website, and a county-wide survey.
The Comprehensive Master Plan establishes five goals/recommendations for Great Parks which were distilled into eight priorities for implementation.
