The Ohio State University Mirror Lake Enhancement, Columbus, Ohio - OCASLA Honor Award; Design Constructed

The Ohio State University’s ambitious Mirror Lake District restoration project has transformed the iconic landmarks Mirror Lake, Pomerene Hall, and Browning Amphitheatre into a cohesive campus destination. Components of the project include Mirror Lake’s renovation to a naturalized and sustainable landscape, with enhanced pathways, terrace overlooks, and greater visual and physical connection to the surrounding campus. The project honors the District’s natural and cultural history while reaffirming its status as an iconic University landmark.

Lawrenceburg Civic Park, Lawrenceburg, Indiana - OCASLA Merit Award; Design Constructed

As the new public greenspace in downtown Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Lawrenceburg Civic Park replaces over an acre of underutilized surface parking, providing a stage, event lawn and plaza for seasonal performances and events. The park design draws inspiration from its location along the Ohio River corridor and pays homage to the City’s rich history as a “river town.”

Columbus Metropolitan Main Library Renovation/Addition, Columbus, Ohio - OCASLA Merit Award; Design Constructed

The renovation and addition to the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library creates a more open and inviting community centerpiece that energizes the surrounding downtown and Discovery District neighborhood, and responds to CML’s 2020 Vision Plan initiative of “building libraries to inspire reading, share resources, and connect people.”

Canton Centennial Plaza, Canton, Ohio - OCASLA Merit Award; Design Not Constructed

For the past three decades, the City of Canton has endeavored to provide for its citizens a central public space that would be both iconic in its design and transformative in its approach as to encourage economic development, strengthen the downtown core and enhance surrounding neighborhoods. The Canton Centennial Plaza project is that space for the city, establishing a central green space for the community and a regional destination for visitors.

Quarry Trails Metro Park Master Plan, Columbus, Ohio - OCASLA Merit Award; Planning + Analysis

The Quarry Trails Master Plan provides Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks with a near and long-term vision of recreation offerings and visitor opportunities on more than 500 acres of former and active quarry, five miles from downtown Columbus. The plan was crafted with significant input from Metro Parks leadership and in coordination with a private development partner, to remediate 80 acres of brownfield site into a mixed-use neighborhood.

Cape May County Creative Placemaking Plan, Cape May County, New Jersey - OCASLA Merit Award; Communications + Research

The Cape May County Creative Placemaking Plan leverages both historic and cultural assets. Through careful consideration of the area and its many unique attributes, the team developed an identity system that can be used in a variety of applications. The final design developed an overall look and feel that helps to curate future visitor experiences, while creating an identity that is uniquely ‘Open Spaces Cape May County’.
