LEED Gold Certification for Louisville Libraries
MKSK is excited to announce that the Louisville South Central Regional Library has just been awarded LEED Gold certification by the USGBC.
The team of MS&R, JRA, and MKSK (led by our Louisville office) collaborated to nestle the new 40,000 SF facility into an existing woodland in south Louisville, taking advantage of the shade and views to provide future library patrons with spaces to both view and participate in the woodland landscape.
This is the second of three projects with the Louisville Free Public Library—the first (Southwest Regional Library) not only won an Honor Award from the Kentucky Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, but has recently been named as the best library in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the Huffington Post.
The third project (Northeast Regional Library) is also planned for LEED certification and is currently under construction.
