Katie is an advocate for building functional and resilient solutions that are born out of public engagement and community visioning.
For over 20 years, Katie has focused on developing usable tools for communities so that they can implement creative solutions that improve their local culture and sense of place. Educated as a landscape architect, Katie has been able to develop a strong set of skills around long-range community visioning, collaborative problem-solving, and design implementation which has led to her serving as a trusted advisor to communities throughout the Midwest.
While able to work at multiple scales, Katie's practice is rooted in listening, learning, and executing on behalf of a client's needs. She sees herself as a facilitator in the design and planning process—allowing the client and project stakeholders to lead idea exploration and decision making. Through immersive public engagement, data-driven research, and practical applications, she is able to focus on building consensus in even the toughest of situations, creating opportunities for project collaboration at every turn.
Based in the Indianapolis studio, Katie serves as one of the firm's Associate Principals. In addition to managing design and planning efforts, she oversees the development and resource management of a twelve-person team that supports the firm's broader design and planning activities.
